The challenge

On the 31st March 2019, a team of legends representing different Bristol businesses will be traveling to Nepal on a special mission to support local charity PHASE Worldwide.

Led by PHASE’s trekking partners at Jagged Globe, the team will be completing the 19 day round trip to Everest Base Camp. This is one of the most famous treks in the world but it is not easy. The team will eventually climb to the height of 5550m! They will be staying in local sherpa family lodges along the way and meeting a team about to summit Everest when they get to Base Camp. Most of this team have never completed anything like this before so are really challenging themselves on this project to support PHASE.

Each team member has been fundraising in Bristol in the run up to the trip with the proceeds going to PHASE projects in Nepal. PHASE Worldwide has been working in remote areas of Nepal since 2005, supporting isolated Himalayan communities by creating opportunities through health, education and agriculture projects.

If you are interested in taking part in our 2020 trip to Everest Base Camp, please contact jonathan@phaseworldwide.org for more info.

Tragic Loss of Jon Lewin

On 13th January 2019, one of the members of the 2019 Bristol to Base Camp team, Jon Lewin tragically lost his life while surfing in Sri Lanka. It is believed that he had a seizure while in the water. Working as a travel photographer, blogger and food writer, Jon was an incredibly inspirational man who was doing many exciting and creative things both personally and professionally. Jon had been very excited to take on this challenge and would have been a fantastic asset to the team when they completed their mission to reach Everest Base Camp in March. The team wants to honour the memory of Jon by finishing the challenge on his behalf. He will be remembered by all of them when they reach Base Camp.

Thank you for being a part of our campaign Jon.
