Dear all that have followed and supported the Bristol to Base Camp 2020 campaign,
On Friday, Nepal announced that it would suspend all trekking for the spring 2020 season. This on top of travel restrictions has meant that this year’s team are no longer able to leave on their adventure to Everest Base Camp this Saturday. Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported this year’s campaign and joined us at our fundraising events. The money raised will be vital in supporting Nepal during a difficult and unstable period in time. Rest assured, the team will still complete their dream of making it to Base Camp at a later date when it is safe to do so.
Thanks all. BTBC x
On the 21st March 2020, a new team of legends representing Bristol businesses will be traveling to Nepal on a special expedition to support local charity PHASE Worldwide.
Led by PHASE’s trekking partners at Jagged Globe, the team will be completing the 20 day round trip to Everest Base Camp. This is one of the most famous treks in the world but it is not easy. The team will eventually climb to the height of 5550m! They will be staying in local sherpa family lodges along the way and meeting a team about to summit Everest when they get to Base Camp.
Each team member will be fundraising in Bristol during the course of the campaign with the proceeds going to PHASE projects in Nepal. PHASE Worldwide has been working in remote areas of Nepal since 2005, supporting remote Himalayan communities by creating opportunities through health, education and agriculture projects.

On 13th January 2019, one of the members of the 2019 Bristol to Base Camp team, Jon Lewin tragically lost his life while surfing in Sri Lanka. It is believed that he had a seizure while in the water. Working as a travel photographer, blogger and food writer, Jon was an incredibly inspirational man who was doing many exciting and creative things both personally and professionally. Jon had been so excited to take on this challenge and would have been a fantastic asset to the team when they completed their mission to reach Everest Base Camp. The 2019 team honoured his dream by finishing the challenge on his behalf and carried a favourite shirt of his throughout the journey.
Thank you for being a part of Bristol to Base Camp Jon.
